Q. What is infill and why is it important?

A. Infill is used to ensure grass blades stand up and maintain their real-grass like appearance. There are three types of infill that are generally used with synthetic grass installation – round premium silica sand, silica sand, and small rubber particles. The infill emulates the impact absorption qualities of real soil, so the turf not only looks real but also feels real when you’re on it. The infill is placed between the grass blades, which helps weigh down the synthetic grass and prevents it from wrinkling due to movement.

Q. Which infill should I choose?

A. We recommend choosing our premium round silica sand infill, which is made up of naturally occurring monocrystalline quartz. Unlike angular infill, which has rough edges that cause turf breakdown, the premium round infill helps turf installation last longer and maintains the turf’s appearance with less wear and tear. While premium round infill is more expensive, it is the best option for turf installation because of its cooler surface temperature, natural color tones, and ability to withstand weathering. This round granular infill is also double washed to ensure size uniformity and to prevent dust.
